Teeth whitening

A white smile has long ceased to be merely an aesthetic wish; it is part of a confident presence and of feeling good. Teeth naturally darken over the years, and everyday habits – coffee, tea, red wine, smoking and strongly coloured foods – add to the staining. Beyond external factors, tooth colour is also affected by age, certain medications, dental injuries and genetics. Many people decide to whiten their teeth before important life events such as a wedding, a photo session or a business appearance – or simply because they want a fresher, more youthful smile.

In our practice, teeth whitening is a safe and effective procedure that can visibly lighten the natural colour of the teeth and enhance the whole face. The modern methods and materials we use at Stomatoestetika Ovsenik allow gradual, controlled whitening with minimal impact on the enamel. Before we begin, the teeth and gums must be healthy – our team checks this first, as that is the only way to achieve the best result and reduce the chance of sensitivity. Because every smile is unique, the whitening procedure is always tailored to the individual, their wishes and the condition of their teeth.

The result of whitening is not just lighter teeth, but very often greater confidence and satisfaction with one's appearance. A beautiful smile shapes first impressions, communication and the ease we feel in company. That is why more and more people choose whitening as a gentle, non-invasive way to refresh their appearance and bring out the natural beauty of their smile.

Many people ask, before deciding on whitening, whether the procedure can be harmful – and the answer is: no, as long as it is carried out correctly and under professional supervision.

Professional whitening performed by a dentist is safe and tailored to the individual. We use proven agents in controlled concentrations, and we assess the condition of the teeth and gums beforehand. This is how we avoid complications and make sure the result is not only beautiful but lasting.

It is true that temporary tooth sensitivity or mild gum irritation can appear during and after whitening. This is a normal, passing reaction that usually settles within a few days. That is also why whitening should never be approached carelessly or with overuse of home products – incorrect use can do more harm than good.

What matters, then, is who performs the whitening and how. A professionally guided procedure does not damage the enamel – it only removes or lightens the staining.

We advise against whitening during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

  • A consultation with the dentist, who examines the teeth and gums
  • Scanning of both dental arches
  • Collection of the whitening trays and gels

In our practice we make custom whitening trays that let you whiten your teeth at home. We first scan your teeth and send the scan to the technician, who makes two individually fitted whitening trays. You then collect the trays and the whitening gels, together with instructions for use.
